Deviantart is a good place so I advice you to use it well.
If you see some fantastic work, use it as inspiration, not demotivation. Many people do that mistake.
Many newbies get frusturated because nobody are visiting their page, or comment on their work. Well, nobody knows about you, so what you need to do, is to comment and comment on other peoples work and get your name out there!
Also, the chat and the Forums are a very good place to start. Just don't ask people to come to your page and comment, 'cause nobody will. Watch how the others do it, and ride the wave too!
If you see a piece you really like - give it a favourit
. That way you show the artist that you really like his/her work, and that you appreciate what he/she is doing. EVERYBODY likes to get - but ofcourse only on works you think desaerves it
DAv4 is full of new features, so take your time to get to know it all.
